Don't Just Stand There, See the Salvation of God!

Introduction to the Salvation of God

Are you facing a challenge that feels like an impossible wall? Perhaps it's a financial burden, a health crisis, or a seemingly insurmountable obstacle in your career or relationships. We all encounter moments where we feel trapped, with no way out. It's in these very moments that we can draw profound inspiration from an ancient story – a story of deliverance, divine intervention, and the power of standing still.

The Israelites, having just escaped centuries of slavery in Egypt, found themselves in a terrifying predicament. Pharaoh, with his mighty army, was hot on their heels, determined to drag them back into bondage. Before them lay the vast, impassable Red Sea. They were truly between a rock and a hard place. Panic set in. "Why have you brought us out here to die in the wilderness?" they cried to Moses.

It's a natural human reaction, isn't it? When fear grips us, our first instinct is often to despair, to complain, or to try and take matters into our own hands, usually making things worse. But Moses, a man who had intimately experienced God's power, offered a different perspective.

His words, recorded in Exodus 14:13, resonate with timeless wisdom:

"And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever."

Fear Not! 🚫

The first command is to "Fear ye not." Fear is a paralyzing emotion. It clouds our judgment, drains our energy, and can prevent us from seeing solutions or even believing that solutions are possible. Moses understood that before they could witness deliverance, they had to release their grip on fear. It's a powerful reminder for us today: when anxieties arise, we must consciously choose to reject fear and instead embrace faith.

Stand Still. 🧘‍♀️

This isn't a call to inaction or idleness. "Stand still" implies a posture of trust and expectancy. It means quieting the frantic urge to control, to manipulate, or to force an outcome. It's about acknowledging our limitations and recognizing that some battles are simply too big for us to fight alone. This "standing still" is an active waiting, a position of readiness to observe divine intervention. It's letting go and letting God.

Imagine the sheer audacity of this command in that moment! An army closing in, a sea blocking the escape. Every fiber of their being must have screamed, "Run! Do something!" Yet, Moses said, "Stand still." This requires immense faith and humility.

See the Salvation of the LORD! 👀

And then comes the promise – "see the salvation of the LORD." What happened next is one of the most iconic miracles in history. God commanded Moses to stretch out his hand over the sea, and a strong east wind divided the waters, creating a dry path through the midst of the sea. 🌊 The Israelites walked across on dry ground, with walls of water on either side. When the Egyptians pursued them, God released the waters, engulfing Pharaoh's entire army. 🌊🐎

The salvation they saw that day was not just an escape; it was a complete, decisive victory. The threat they had seen "today" they would "see again no more for ever." Their oppressors were gone, permanently.

What Does This Mean for You Today? 🤔

This ancient narrative isn't just a historical account; it's a powerful blueprint for facing your own modern-day "Red Sea" moments.

  1. Identify Your "Egyptians": What are the forces pursuing you, threatening to drag you back into bondage (of worry, debt, illness, etc.)?

  2. Acknowledge Your "Red Sea": What seemingly impassable obstacle lies before you?

  3. Choose to "Fear Not": Actively combat fear with faith. Do this by repeating the scriptures over and over, singing and praising God loudly to shut out negative emotions. Also remind yourself of past deliverances or stories of God's faithfulness to you and others.

  4. Practice "Standing Still": This may involve prayer, fasting, biblical meditation, seeking wise counsel, or simply resting in the assurance that you've done all you can and now it's time to wait and watch. It means surrendering the outcome.

  5. Anticipate "Salvation": Expect God to show up in ways you cannot imagine. His solutions are often beyond our human ingenuity.

Sometimes, "standing still" is the hardest thing to do. We are conditioned to be busy, to fix things, to control our environment. But true strength often lies in recognizing when to release control and allow a greater power to work on our behalf.

Just as the Israelites never saw the Egyptians again, you too can experience a complete and lasting deliverance from the challenges that seem insurmountable today. It might not look exactly like a parting sea, but God's creative power of salvation is just as active and available.

Conclusion: Your Breakthrough Awaits! ✨

Don't let fear paralyze you. Don't let your current circumstances define your future. Take courage from Moses' words: "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD." Your breakthrough might be closer than you think, waiting for you to step aside and witness the miraculous.
